Pia ZemljiC: "I really appreciate my intimate life"

It is considered a magical moment in the theater when the play comes to the audience alive. This is not lacking in the performance of the Minitheat Closing Love. The partners in the play, as well as privately, the actors Marko Mandić and Pia Zemljic, are ruthless in this. Of course, such work requires a lot of work with oneself, as well as moments when one can simply love oneself, Pia is convinced.

Does the player have to be ready for change?

Urgent, ventilate you. If it were up to me, there would be more. I spent seven years at SNG Drama Maribor, then two years at large and now for the fourth year at SLG Celje, where we have the premiere of the play Krči, directed by Jure Novak, on 13 September. But Minca Lorenci and I play, in short, a chamber ensemble, I am again working in a duet with exciting colleagues and I am very satisfied.

How are you tackling the new role?

In the process of work, especially before the premiere, the role of the whole sip. You think about it, you dream about it, intentionally or unintentionally, it follows you in your head. But I really like to focus on the here and now, that is, I'm here and now on rehearsal because if I'm not, rehearsal goes to nothing. When I get home, however, I also want to be completely with the kids. In the end, I'm ever completely exhausted. So the rest will come in very handy. I'm already looking forward to it. For now, I'm still on the drive.

Have any of your roles affected you personally?

Many in very different ways. Of course, the latter is always the most intense. At the moment, it's a role in Closing Love that requires a tremendous amount of mental and emotional commitment from me. Although Cramps are also interesting because it is a topic of events with an individual. I guess, I research, I wonder where this person I'm playing forgot where to be human, where it became just a function, an extension of a company, where it lost its humanity ... I don't want to do the role by heart.

How do you overcome fatigue?

Sometimes it helps to lie down with my legs in a higher position, even if I don't fall asleep to get at least a little full. Half an hour, 20 minutes, and I get a fresh boost.

Do you understand your son?

They are very considerate and already understand that I need a short break in these intense days before the premiere, I go to bed at one in the morning and get up at 7 o'clock, so I run out. I promise them that I will be fresh with them soon, that we will play or do something together, and I keep my promise. Luckily, not all periods are as intense as they are at the moment because I skipped the holidays. But I'm not sorry, especially for a show like Closing Love, which is artistically and personally satisfying. There are few such great opportunities.

Do you ever live a role?

I certainly let every role go through me and allow it to take a part of me. At least I try to act that way, but not so much in real life in the sense of transforming myself, but on stage or at rehearsals. I remember the study of Fat Men in Wings when I spoke with a changed voice and was 'crazy to amen'. I also rehearsed on Mark, and he laughed, and in the end I found the role and understood it with the help of these improvisations.

Does this mean that you make your own during rehearsals and on stage, so there is no need to play in your private life?

I really appreciate my intimate life to be without 'acting', open relationships, honest things mean a lot to me. I feel the manipulation on my skin, I see it, I know it exists in life, but I don't want to use it. So I surround myself with people who are open and I feel safe with them in that sense. I have such a profession that there is enough of it there and I don't want to manipulate my emotions and thoughts in my private life.

Are you for natural?

Yes. For nature and the natural in yourself and in relationships. Mark and I are very similar in the clarity of the basic relationship and in our values, although in many ways we are the complete opposite. It seems to me that we are looking in the same direction. Sometimes we also kick in the ass to see if we're on the same stairs. It's not about dragging one, we're pulling both, ourselves and each other.

What is magical about your life?

Love. But really - love. When I get to the point where I just love myself, which is the hardest part. If only I could love myself as unconditionally as I love children and Mark. You have to work hard for that. Some are born with it, others are born with complexes. But it's magical when you get rid of frustrations and just come to life. I also really like the moments when all four of us are in bed.
